spez is presently sat at his computer shidding and crying about my devastating insult

Suspicious but it could just be posts aging out.

[โ€“] Rick 33 points 1 year ago (2 children)

That's not how reddit normally works, they are aging out VERY fast for the amount of upvotes they have

[โ€“] [email protected] 22 points 1 year ago

I just went and looked and the posts from about 13 hours ago are down to page 3 of hot, while the posts from almost 24 hours ago are just about gone. That is pretty much exactly how you'd expect them to age out. If people want these posts to stay on the front page, new posts need to be made

the speed of ageout is an adjustable param, they lengthened it significantly about 5 years ago, i would not be shocked if they sped it back up to "normal" speed where the front page could change constantly.

ELI5's post is still showing there

I went through that thread before everything went dark, the sentiment in there was very anti-protest and pro-reddit. I'm pretty sure I saw an upvoted comment saying bad things about the Apollo dev.

I couldn't tell if people were genuine or if there was some manipulation going on in the thread by admins or otherwise.

I hope things have turned around in there, but knowing the hivemind effect it probably hasn't.

[โ€“] AnonTwo 8 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

To be fair, if people are properly protesting, the only people who would be checking reddit to respond to that thread are

  1. People who don't know

  2. People who didn't agree with it

I wouldn't even know the thread exists because I haven't had reddit open on any tabs.

edit: will say there could be exceptions to that, but that's just the general idea

Nah, you can never underestimate just what PoSs people can be. A lot of them will do mental gymnastics to blame the victims. Before I left I'd already encountered people blaming the mods engaging in the blackouts for doing it "just over money".

[โ€“] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

There are plenty of subreddits open, if you change to "rising" or "new" it's like nothing happened. There are millions of subreddits, only less than 10k went private, and admins can reopen subreddits if they want to.

[โ€“] [email protected] 19 points 1 year ago

A lot of those subs went private now so they might've gotten knocked off anyway. My guess is the algorithm doesn't favour private subreddits. Not saying that it couldn't have been removed deliberately either, but this might be the simple explanation.

[โ€“] tallwookie 16 points 1 year ago

lets be honest, reddit is a literal joke at this point

[โ€“] TheCookieButter 13 points 1 year ago

My top 5 posts were all Reddit API blackout posts. Doesn't seem they're deleting stuff.

[โ€“] [email protected] 11 points 1 year ago (1 children)

found in incognito mode, they might not be scrubbing more than most people who are protesting are here posting not over there spamming. there was a discussion on modcord to not spam or harass users or subs that remain open. the number of protest posts on the main page started decreasing after i saw that post.

[โ€“] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I kinda want to see big subreddit like r/AdviceAnimal to get brigaded or get unwanted post. Just to show how important mods are in keeping the rules.

[โ€“] ImpatientProf 10 points 1 year ago

All the better to see the crypto spam.

Hey Reddit:

[โ€“] Alpagu 5 points 1 year ago

Reddit makes me feel in Turkey

[โ€“] MacDougal 4 points 1 year ago

I was a bit of an ass and started DV all posts on new yesterday. Regular 7 year user with 80k karma so i should be able to interact but after 5 reddit stopped allowing me to dv. After seeing the memo today about how revenues aren't affected i realized i should just stay off the site in general... RIP

Suspicious? I think NOT
