The robber barons never left, they’ve just been kept in check. We must not let them dismantle the few checks we’ve managed to keep.

Kids should not have industry jobs, full stop. They’ve got 50 years ahead to do that shit.

What’s the point in this besides being evil? If you’ve been around kids then you know they suck at working so I don’t think this makes even evil business sense.

  1. Nobles can't be seen as inherently better than slaves if slaves have time and resources to attain the same education as them. This takes away the time and does something useful for the superior people.

  2. It's well studied how introducing women to the labor force increased work demand and decreased pay (Not saying it was bad, just stating the obvious consequences). You can get another easy boost by also properly utilizing the kids as a human resource. Now the whole family needs to work to stay over the poverty line. Perfect.

So kids have someplace to go when they close public schools for good. Only the wealthy will be able to educate their kids. The poor can send their kids to work or an ultra religious school.
