For all the great mysteries and provoking ideologies worth pondering, this state of affairs lacks any mark. All of this could be avoided had we not supported the disconnected political and economically elite classes. Their energy usage by any metric exponentially outweighs the common person. People don't want to hear it, but maybe our immediate futures don't contain luxury for all, but instead, content for all. Our lives the world across are being burned at both ends for the serenity of a few thousand.

This is the place for discussing the potential collapse of modern civilization and the environment.
Collapse, in this context, refers to the significant loss of an established level or complexity towards a much simpler state. It can occur differently within many areas, orderly or chaotically, and be willing or unwilling. It does not necessarily imply human extinction or a singular, global event. Although, the longer the duration, the more it resembles a ‘decline’ instead of collapse.
