Isn't there already a remaster? I came around this one from the KDE discovery.

[–] hydroel 7 points 2 years ago (1 children)

It's not really a remaster, it's an open-source re-implementation. But I guess it could be used as a base for a remaster

[–] Sir_Simon_Spamalot 11 points 2 years ago

Who needs a remaster? This is perfect.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 years ago

That's a port, not a remaster. Man, that thing made party like it's 1995. Thanks for the link.

Best comment here, please remember to boost this post so people can see it!

[–] Gangreless 21 points 2 years ago (1 children)

You can't remaster that which is already perfection

[–] Buffalox 4 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

Nah, perfection was Pinball Dreams on the Amiga, way superior to everything on PC/Windows for a decade. Which is probably equivalent to about a 100 years if it was a car.

For anyone on Android, you can get the game here

[–] spunker88 7 points 2 years ago

There is also an open source version you can get on Github for android https://github.com/fexed/Pinball-on-Android

[–] EndOfLine 2 points 2 years ago

... and that was the end of my productivity for the day.

Are we going to have a community that is focused on gaming discussion and another focused on memes and low-effort posts? Or are they going to be combined?

[–] tswifttrapqueen 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Agreed because I don’t like the OP for being a low effort meme, but also I feel like if there’s a community you’re interested in, just go make it.

Especially as people migrate off of Reddit and Lemmy grows. Anyone coming from Reddit who was interested in games knows there is a demand for a discussion/news based community like r/games

Yeah, as long as we're using an upvote system, those need to be split so the articles and discussion posts don't get drowned out in a sea of easily-consumed and quickly-upvoted low-content posts. I know I would personally really prefer having a proper feedly-style community with a bunch of articles and discussions than another gaming meme one that could basically be a bot linked to an instagram feed.

so, god knows there's enough games communities across the various larger instances right now but, even so... maybe we should start a /c/gamingdiscussion?

What is there to remaster?

[–] SapienSRC 12 points 2 years ago (1 children)

So many hours spent playing this game when I was a kid.

[–] quinten 7 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I still can hear the start-up sound

[–] oaschbeidl 7 points 2 years ago

Wooouuupwoouupwoupwoupwouwoupwoup drrrrrrrrrrr

[–] oscarlavi 6 points 2 years ago

This was such an OG game. I spent so many hours on this shit

[–] hup 6 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Twas remastered in 2021 in the Microsoft Store my dude. Have fun

[–] Armok_the_bunny 4 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I just tried it, and wow, that is really bad actually. Genuinely much worse than finding a download of the original version.

[–] aregularbeaneater 2 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Do you happen to know where I could find an original download?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 years ago

You can always go check out Dave's garage on YouTube hes got a nice video on it and links to aquire it

Perfection needs no remaster.

[–] Cultural_Hope 5 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Will it have paid day-one DLC? Online leaderboards and rankings? NFTs? Requires constant online connectivity? Battlepass with flipper cosmetics?

[–] ewe 5 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Like the crap they slapped onto solitaire? That was ridiculous.

Careful what you wish for. 2024 EA announces remaster of Zen Pinball.

[–] SniffBark 5 points 2 years ago

This took up a significant portion of my time on PC as a kid. No regrets

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 years ago (2 children)

It would be soo cool if they open-sourced this game at this point.

.. like why not?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 years ago

Well lucky for you someone has already done the work! SpaceCadetPinball

I did play the hell out of this game back in the day, but there was an even older one that only worked in dos mode. I can't remember the name, but I loved that version.

[–] ConsciousLochNess 4 points 2 years ago

Classic computer lab memories

[–] giacomo 4 points 2 years ago

No need to remaster perfection

[–] cfi 3 points 2 years ago

They made a remake for Windows store a while ago, and it was awful

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 years ago

Pinball FX has some fun tables. Not free but a decent modern pinball game.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 years ago

Don't touch perfection!

[–] Googlyeyedgal 3 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Speaking of windows 95, any nostalgia communities yet?

[–] BLAMM 3 points 2 years ago

I'm pretty sure I still have that on a 3.5" floppy somewhere. I also have a 3.5" drive that could read it, but I have nothing I could plug it into.

[–] Willer 2 points 2 years ago

There is a windows build exe on my PC that lets you play the OG. I would redirect you to the download site but they look all shady af.
