“It is striking, and in some ways shocking, that the brutality of the slaughter has receded so quickly in the memories of so many, but not in Israel and not in America,” he said.
At the same time, he said he was also shaken by images of dead and wounded Palestinian children in Gaza.
“When I see that, I see my own children. How can we not?” he said, adding “Hamas doesn’t care one second or iota for the welfare and well-being of the Palestinian people.”

Even wrapped in that turd sandwich, I really have to agree with you. They really fucked this up where the meat in the middle got switched to non-kosher.

Russia and China are partly responsible for the attack, of course they'll "call Israel out" as Iran is just another proxy for them.

Meanwhile Biden offers $106bn to Israel.

Bombs aren't cheap when you drop them as carelessly as a cigarette butt.

They've been choosing overcrowded areas very carefully.

Wow, you sure got em' there!

But that's literally the target, Hamas.

Wait a minute, you don't believe it's even just maybe disregard for life, you genuinely believe Israel is targeting citizens?

Projection does seem to be a strong attribute of the right and someone can't stop screaming terrorist while bombing whole families of doctors and journalists out of existence. Does that seem so far fetched that they've taken a whole part of a country hostage? Because Bibi literally said releasing the hostages is the only way to get a ceasefire and I'm unsure how to tell you this, but that sounds like terrorism on an even grander scale.

I'm not joking though, if you say something bluntly stupid here I'm calling this conversation DOA

Frankly, and maybe I'm misunderstanding, but you didn't answer the question. You genuinely believe Israel is targeting civilians?

Yes?

They have bombed every civilian hotzone under the pretense that it allegedly contained Hamas militants, as if that somehow excuses the insane civilian casualties, but also without showing any significant evidence.

The closest thing we got was some really dumb 3D render claim about bunkers hidden under a hospital, which hasn't been proven by the rubble of said hospital.

But don't you think Israel would be smarter about going and targeting civilians if it was true?

Like, wouldn't it avoid schools, hospitals and ambulances etc.?

Why would it bomb less dense areas with supposed humanitarian status, just to create a PR nightmare for itself for "low" numbers?

[–] mlg 1 points 1 year ago

There's no need for them because they already have a local rhetoric that Palestinians are all the same, and because the USA will continue to back their actions with very little consequences.

ie they're evil and they don't care about PR lol.

Nazi Germany made it abundantly clear that they were some superhuman white race. They didn't care if it didn't make sense or try to hide it.

I get your logic, but it doesn't really apply to genocidal regimes. You can even look at recent events, like the bosnian genocide which was only 30 years ago. Serbia didn't hide its actions at all, it was pretty proud of showing off how they were rounding up and massacaring Bosnians.

A similar thing happened then too in that the UN put a blockade on Serbia, but UK+France told the USA not to get invovled in helping Bosnia because the genocide benefited the christian people (no i'm not making this up, it was some really next level of sick you can read about here see:factions)

This is the best summary I could come up with:

TEL AVIV (AP) — U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken warned Israel on Friday that it risks destroying an eventual possibility for peace unless it acts swiftly to improve humanitarian conditions in Gaza for Palestinian civilians as it intensifies its war against Hamas.

“There will be no partners for peace if they’re consumed by humanitarian catastrophe and alienated by any perceived indifference to their plight,” Blinken said, even as the call for a temporary pause without the release by Hamas of Israeli hostages was swiftly rejected by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who said Israel would be “going with full steam ahead.”

The comments to reporters in Tel Aviv, following meetings with Netanyahu and other senior officials, amounted to some of the Biden administration’s strongest warnings to Israel since the brutal Oct. 7 rampage by Hamas that killed more than 1,400 civilians and soldiers.

He described being moved by additional video he’d been shown in Israel by the Hamas militants who carried out the attacks, including a father killed in front of his young children.

In his first public speech since the war began, Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah said his group had “entered the battle” with the past weeks’ unprecedented cross-border fighting.

But the complexity of the situation — and of Blinken’s push for Israel to consider a pause — was laid bare on Friday when Netanyahu, after leaving the meeting with the American official, ruled out the possibility of a cease-fire “that doesn’t include a return of our hostages,” referring to some 240 people Hamas abducted during its attack.

I believe Secretary Blinken's call for improved humanitarian conditions in Gaza is a crucial step towards fostering lasting peace in the region. Ensuring that basic needs are met is essential for building trust and diplomatic progress. It is a positive move towards a more stable future for all involved.
