Then row 8 is mostly solvable.

The downvote would imply I'm I not understanding the rules. Is that so?

Agreed here. Either the block below it is the 1, or it's the top block in the 5. Either way, 9,8 must be an X

The next step is to install an adblocker, say, AdAway (on F-Droid)

That 2/3 row I would put the 3 in the top far right. Seems to fit with the shape and gives some good progress to determine whether it is obviously wrong quickly.
