Turning off this TV really just brings up a black screen. I can for the life of me how to actually turn it off off. It’s mounted so hard to access the power.

Maybe it's defective. I would suggest returning it.

Hmm this doesn't look right at all, maybe it's defective?

try holding the off button on the remote for x-number of seconds, that works for mine, so perhaps it works for yours as well? mine is also Samsung but different model.

Is there a physical power button on the tv?

Yup it does the same thing.

Try the circuit breaker

As others have said it seems to be defective. I would suggest getting it repaired if it's under warranty.

If you can't turn off the power, I doubt you can as they sit in stand-by mode when Off.

Otherwise the remote would not work to turn it on.

Op's problem is that the backlight is on. I don't know new Samsung TVs, but that is extremely surprising if it can't be turned off.

Just a guess - is there a settings menu somewhere? Idk what to tell you to look for but it might be in there. Good luck!

I have a Toshiba TV that glows dimly when off. Not as obvious as this set, but it can just make it out at night.

Thanks for all the replies! Followed up with a repair person and it is in fact defective.
