That's really gorgeous. I'm curious what it would look like v-carved with a CNC.

v-carved with a CNC

Hi, thanks a lot :) sorry, english isn't my first language, so I sometimes have trouble with acronyms. which part are you talking about?

V carving refers to using a conical drill bit on a CNC machine, usually in wood, in order to create interesting patterns that can take advantage of depth.

He is an example of what it can create:

This is a CNC machine:

Aww yes ok, that would be great ! Bas-relief style. i've always wanted to do something similar but on stone or steel. Something solid and monolithic. but i don't have the technical skills or the equipment to do it. And considering the size, i haven't found anyone in france to do it yet. 😢

Don't know if you're aware but we have a printmaking community on Lemmy that where your work would be very welcome!

Brilliant, looking forward to seeing your work posted on Printmaking :)

[–] Julien_catanese 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I see that there's also a sub collage that I'm joining!

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Excellent! Glad to hear it :)

Incidentally, do you also find there's an overlap with printmaking and collage? I've noticed a few print makers also tend to do collages (although it could just be just using up prints that maybe didn't go quite right, instead of having them go into waste bin)....just a musing...

I don't know, good question ! personally I made collages before starting to print. my practice of engraving in the creation of design is quite similar to collage. I take symbols from the diagrams which I assemble together to obtain a coherent and balanced whole.

Hi there! Looks like you linked to a Lemmy community using a URL instead of its name, which doesn't work well for people on different instances. Try fixing it like this: [email protected]
