It's a little sad that we need to actually say this, but:

Don't be an asshole or you will be permanently banned.

Respectful debate is totally OK, criticizing a product is fine, but being verbally abusive will not be tolerated.

Focus on discussing the idea, not attacking the person.

This is beyond stupid. The writer states that helmets don't protect from getting hit by cars, so they don't work. Once you are hit by a car it's pretty hard to stop your head from bouncing off the car or the pavement. It greatly limits the kind and severity of head injuries you can get.

If you don't want to wear one then don't. Just don't write articles that pretends helmets are not useful pieces of safety gear.

I agree with the sentiment that protected bike lanes are critical for safety but yeah, I am sure as hell wearing a helmet, especially on an ebike!

I have never heard anyone say wearing a helmet would protect against a car. Obviously that wouldn't be true. So not really sure why he keeps focusing on this. Seems like a bit of a red herring. That being said, if he doesn't want to wear a helmet, then don't wear a helmet (assuming it is legal where he lives). No need to make up excuses for it.

Helmets won't protect against getting hit by a car. However they will protect against a lot of other things that can go wrong. Do not like perfect be the enemy of good.

They'll protect me from myself.

I've crashed into a median before and did a head-over-heels flip on my bike before. A helmet was really useful then.

What we need is a full body car resistant helmet!

Until this mythical technology exists though I'm not going to comment on it.
