I vote that any mushrooms with a psychoactive ability have a place in the community

Funny. I subbed because I thought this community was about cool mushrooms. I haven't tried "shrooms", but maybe I will someday. Where can I do it legally?
Bonus pic of Amanita caesarea. Not a psychedelic mushroom.
Yeah, its more for people who are more interested in actives than other species like gourmet or the like. Shrooms are fully decriminalized in Oregon, and are somewhat decriminalized in a few other states, although it is probably not a huge deal in most places so long as you aren't doing something stupid. There has been a pretty big push as of late push for at least decriminalization, especially because they have some success in preliminary studies on vets with PTSD (even some that was treatment resistant) when used in therapy (1, 2).
The biggest thing about the availability is how easy it is to get active spores in most states. I would be remiss to not say that those are to be only looked at under a microscope, and definitely not grown, despite how easy it might seem (definitely never lookup BRF Tek, Uncle Bens Tek, or CVG).
Also, nice mushroom pics, guess I have more screen backgrounds options now.
Wow fantastic gallery thanks for sharing!
On reddit r/mushrooms and r/mushroomid were for the fungal hobby and interest while r/shrooms was the drug community. I haven't yet gone looking for the mushroom boards here, but all posts on this board so far have been about psylocibes, primarily growing.
Psylocibin mushrooms are illegal in most areas of the US, check your local laws internationally lol. In the US, AFAIK the only legal/decriminalized areas to purchase or use psylocibin recreationally are Denver, CO Oakland, CA and the State of Oregon.
Amanita Muscaria (and by extension the other psychoactive varieties, but Muscaria is really the only one sold commercially at least right now that I've seen) to my knowledge is completely legal to obtain or use. Sale of it is rarer, but I have seen it recently popping up in more smoke shops in my area in gummy, chocolate, and vape form (mixed with cannabinoids). Pay attention as edibles can be vaguely labeled and also might have a mix of other mushrooms (Chaga, lions mane, reishi, etc.), But that's the form I'd recommend for now. I've purchased and used a brand called I think just Purple and they were good 👍
Thank you for the detailed response. Wow.
I'm completely in favour of including all mushrooms of psychedelic nature
Amanita Muscaria is awesome. The Ibotenic acid needs to be decarbed to form Muscimol, which is more or less a GABAergic hypnotic. Low doses are like a benzo high, mid doses are more trippy, high doses are definitely a mix between a hallucinogen and hypnotic. Oh and it mixes very well with Ethanol. Best recipe so far is decarbing the mushrooms at around 60°C in the oven for some hours or let them sit somewhere dry and cold for 4-6 months. Crush the dried material, put it in Vodka and let it sit for 1-2 weeks. 2g shrooms per 100ml Vodka is usually enough, cause Amanita Muscaria trips start at around 1g of dried shrooms.
