Is it possible to follow that from Lemmy or do you need an account on one of the micro-blogging fediverse sites?
Fediverse
A community dedicated to fediverse news and discussion.
Fediverse is a portmanteau of "federation" and "universe".
Getting started on Fediverse;
- What is the fediverse?
- Fediverse Platforms
- How to run your own community
you can look at the account on this side https://lemmy.ml/u/[email protected] but I don't think you can even "follow" users on lemmy, but that is a good question and I am still getting my grip of how lemmy works, I never really used reddit so I don't know what the assumptions are
The whole reddit like part of the fediverse makes sense to me, what I am still confused by is how that part interacts with the microblogging part.
👋 Hi there. This is a reply from the #vidiverse
(Only joking 😜 .. just not much of a fan of giving each application type its on *-verse name)
When I click on the Context link for the notification for this example reply I get https://sh.itjust.works/u/[email protected] which seems to show a timeline for you and has Send Message and Block User buttons. Presumably that is the way to read microblogging messages via Lemmy
@taladar wanna try "sending me a message"? I didn't realize lemmy supported that, I wonder if it shows as a DM
I just did. It did have a warning that private messages are not secure so I assume it would show as a DM.
@taladar haven't received anything on my side. seems to be broken...
Good to know, maybe it only works for Lemmy->Lemmy DMs or not at all.
