It seems like open back are the defacto recommendation for headphones. I already own an AKG K240 and since I intend to use them around other people, I don't want the noise bleed. What do people prefer for closed back applications? I've been looking at the DT 770 Pro's and the Hifiman Sundara Closed. I really like a sound signature with a bass emphasis. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

i have wired sennheiser momentum 2s. the momentum line is on 4th generation now, and they look to all be bluetooth.

mine are great for use on the train, or the plane, or in bed for not getting hit with a pillow. fed from a phone, they're a little weak in the bottom end — probably an impedance thing — but fed from a headphone amp they're ace. (though it then becomes possible to leak enough sound to get hit.)

they're not active noise-cancelling and they're not sold for high isolation, but they keep enough in and out for any of my needs. and impedance matching isn't an issue when fed by bluetooth, though then they'll need to be kept charged.

Honestly, all I can say is how I like my replaceable cable on the dt 770 (non pro) and the replaceable earcups. Fit and feel also great!

Tbh Ive had trouble finding any I like, tried k371, Aeon Closed X, Senn 300 Pro, Senn 280 pro, and some more. Almost always prefer IEM's over closed backs

Best I've heard is Focal Bathys

I've got a few sets of IEMs that I enjoy, but looking for a bigger sound I think.

I bought my audio technica ath-m50x 5 years ago and they are still going strong! I replaced the cable once, but that's the easiest thing ever and my ear pads could do with a replacement, because the Faux leather is flaking off, but I'm too lazy and actually quite like the soft cushion underneath.

I really like the sound and it definitely has an emphasis on bass!

I also have the DT 770 pro, but I actually like the sound of the ATHs better for electronic, bass heavy music, so depending on your music preferences, you could give them a try :)

Thanks for the recommendation! I'll check them out.

I love my Fostex T50RP Japanese imports - the regular mk 3 are fairly similar. Excellent sound with the planar magnetics, and fairly easy to drive as well.

The mod scene is insane too.

hi, I have the dt 770’s and I wouldn’t say that they have a bass emphasis however you can use an eq for that.. I find them very comfortable to wear for long periods so I can definitely recommend them for comfort :) they have an extra long cable so be careful if you’re planning to use them on the move.
