3DS is retro now. I am finally a boomer.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 year ago

Retro as in retro gaming I assume. It's good for emulation and you can comfortably play DS games on it too.

[–] dojan 7 points 1 year ago

I think it’s more that it’s an excellent emulation device.

[–] tomkatt 5 points 1 year ago

I mean, it’s a pretty solid 8 and 16 bit emulation device and can natively play GBA and NDS games. What’s not to like?

[–] Zeus 2 points 1 year ago

put it this way, it's the new nintendo 3ds. it can't ever be retro; it's the new version

[–] rezz 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 6 months ago)

It’s in quotes in the title. And the second is a hardware emulator. They’re all for emulation.

I have a lot of questions.

Number one, how dare you?

[–] idusces 4 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Number two, what is that gameboy build? Looks slick as hell.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (2 children)

I'm pretty sure it's an Anbernic RG35XX

[–] idusces 3 points 1 year ago

$55? Pretty acceptable to me. I'm in love with that bezeless screen

[–] TheTeaMonster 1 points 1 year ago

Yup, it's the RG35XX.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

That's either a Miyoo Mini Plus or an Anbernic RG5XX. And if I'm not mistaken, it's the latter.

[–] NocturnalNebula 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

What are the two on the left?

[–] TheTeaMonster 2 points 1 year ago (2 children)

The two gaming systems? They're a "New" 3DS and an Anbernic RG35XX.

[–] Beardliest 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

How do you like the Anbernic? What made you choose that over the Miyoo Mini Plus? if you don’t mind me asking.

[–] TheTeaMonster 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

I really enjoy it. I chose it over the Miyoo Mini Plus because, from my research, it has a better-quality display. The extra chin under the face buttons also adds to the comfort in hand over time, and I can confirm that it’s very comfortable. Additionally, I was able to find it for a cheaper price, which was just the icing on the cake.

[–] NocturnalNebula 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Thanks! Can’t believe I didn’t recognize the 3ds….. 🤦‍♂️ How do you like the Anbernic RG35XX??

[–] TheTeaMonster 2 points 1 year ago

I love it. Its build quality is fantastic and it's very comfortable. And using GarlicOS makes it perfect.

Thanks, looks pretty cool. Maybe in the 75 form factor for me.

[–] awderon 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Typing this on the air75, love this keyboard. Switched recently to the black shine through keycaps, I like the look even better than the creme keycaps.

Thanks! This looks awesome, like something out of the first Alien film.

[–] awderon 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

You might also like the look of the Keychron K3. Which will probably be my next one, if or when I get tired of the air75.

[–] Haldum96 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

That one looks good too, but the Nuphy seems more portable. Will mostly use it for my iPad Pro on the go.

[–] awderon 2 points 1 year ago

Yeah I also have it with me when I need to work outside the homeoffice. The protection case is worth it, and it can be used to prop the iPad up.

[–] NOT_RICK 4 points 1 year ago (2 children)

You like your Abernic? I’m thinking about getting an RG353V

[–] TheTeaMonster 3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Oh yeah I love it. Very, very impressed with how great the build quality is for a device this price.

Yeah, it's nice. I've had it 2 years now. It's sturdy, hasn't broken yet. I'm not feeling the need to upgrade yet. If I was buying new, I'd get something newer. I was considering a GPD Win Mini, but $1000 is a lot and GPD has so many QA issues,

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

What happened to the 2nd screen on the 3DS?!

[–] TheTeaMonster 2 points 1 year ago

Somehow the reflection of my ceiling matched the color of the pad underneath perfectly.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

Sure, retro - if you're 12 😃

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Slick AF, I love it!

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

The 3DS is such an amazing emulation device. I love it.

[–] Vub 2 points 1 year ago

The 3DS was a beauty. Also the thumb stick had the best feel to it.

[–] dodgypast 2 points 1 year ago

I've got GC, Wii and WiiU covered by a soft modded WiiU.

PSP and Vita with a modded Vita.

And a modded New 3DSXL for all the portable nintendo platforms.

Everything else I do on my PC.

In terms of their aesthetic, at least. Nuphy Air60 and the retro version of the Xtrfy M8 Wireless.
