Palestine

A community for everything related to Palestine and the occupation currently underway by the occupying force known as Israel.

Anti-Zionism is not anti-Semitism. Existence is resistance for Palestinians.

Please refer to Israel as Occupied Palestine, or occupied territories. The IDF is a fascist and ethnonationalist occupying force. Israelis are settlers. We understand however that the imperial narrative (which tries to legitimise Israel) is internalised in the imperial core and slip-ups are naturally expected.

We always take the sides of Palestine and Palestinians and are unapologetic about it. Israel is an occupying power whose "defence force"'s (note the contradiction) sole purpose for existing is to push Palestinians out so they can resettle their rightful land. If you have anything positive to say about Israel we do not care.

In the wake of the recent hostilities in Palestine, there’s a discernible shift in media narratives.

The objective of this media pivot is clear: to shape global sentiments against Muslims, potentially leveraging international support. Given that global attention has, over the last few years, been divided between the pandemic and geopolitical events such as the Russia-Ukraine conflict, if this narrative can be used to reignite concerns about radical Islam, they’ll take that as a win.

It’s troubling to witness some groups taking advantage of heart-wrenching footage to try and sway the uninformed—those whose gravest concerns might otherwise have been waiting in a long queue at McDonald’s or the pressures of work.

Maybe if Hamas didn't want people to think negatively about Muslims they should have avoided shouting "Allahu Akbar" as they shot up a musical festival and paraded the dead bodies around.

I have been pro-Palestine for years and still am but this attack was inexcusable. Religious nutjobs vs religious nutjobs, I can't stand by either. We should all be denouncing Palestinian attacks on civilians just like we have with all of Israel's attacks over the years.

Hamas is not Palestine and Palestine is not Hamas just because one of their goals align. Religious fundamentalism has got to go.
