Same with Pinterest, Instagram and Facebook

And Reddit in incognito on mobile.

True, Pinterest has always been shit. At least I've never had pleasent experience there and therefore haven't registered an account.

Band of my existence every time I'm searching recipes

[–] Moghul 21 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Search for something

Pinterest results

Search for something -pinterest

[–] cm0002 7 points 1 year ago (2 children)

And if you're intensely searching for something, you always end up with a long list of "-xyz"s lmfao

[–] marswarrior 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Search for something -site:reddit.com -site:quora.com -site:pinterest.com

[–] x4740N 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

The ublacklist extension can block those sites for you

[–] marswarrior 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)
[–] hamFoilHat 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

How else do you expect it to store the blacklist?

[–] marswarrior 3 points 1 year ago

I'll read their wiki if they have one and see what data they collect. I don't like to add too many browser extensions.

Reminds me when I'm searching for artwork or clothing on google and I have to add various -assholestocksite.com to the google search results because the fucking thing is over filled with stock images

Then I got an extension to use on chrome but I recently switched over to Firefox so I need to find an extension or script that can block stock images on firefox

Edit:

Here's the same extension I used on Chrome for firefox if anyone needs it

I like to think of Muse as the band of my existence, at least their older stuff.

[–] teuast 3 points 1 year ago

streetlight manifesto for me

[–] expatriado 3 points 1 year ago

there are browser extensions that block pinterest from your searches

[–] nostalgicgamerz 28 points 1 year ago (1 children)

This is what Reddit is going to be like eventually. No more anonymous browsing on desktop or mobile anymore. All visitors need to be tracked

[–] finder585 4 points 1 year ago

Mobile browsing is almost there. Prompt to login nearly every other post you look at. And some gaming subs got flagged for supporting violence. So, Reddit wanted me to login to view those subs. No, clue if that ever changed because I stopped browsing Reddit on my phone.

[–] Ryan213 25 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It's Twitter. It can't possibly be that good.

[–] Duchess 18 points 1 year ago (1 children)

and if it is, a screenshot will be elsewhere

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 year ago (1 children)

screenshot? Try network news.

Fuck, network news is gonna be slightly worse now that reddit imploded like it was made out of discount carbon fiber and they have to steal content from elsewhere.

[–] Duchess 5 points 1 year ago

i remember the first time i saw a newsreader just reading out twitter screenshots. wild.

Yep. Login walls belong in the 3rd circle of internet Hell. Along with paywalls, and popups that pop behind a window or in another tab.

[–] mrnarwall 14 points 1 year ago

the walling off of internet social media is the stupidest thing ever. enshittification at its worst

[–] [email protected] 12 points 1 year ago (3 children)

What was the last time you clicked a twitter link and it was any good?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

When did Elon buy it again?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I never got what did Elon change on the site that it's worse now (when it comes to content). Yet I can now lurk without any additional steps like login or nitter. Most people from my country didn't migrate and the most popular worldwide neither did. Unbanned people, like Trump, didn't return. What did change?

[–] billiam0202 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)
  • The amount of right-wing hate speech has ballooned enormously under Musk.

  • Because of the above, misinformation has also increased. Much of that is pushed from Musk directly.

  • Changing the meaning of the blue checkmark from "this person is who they say they are so you can trust what they say" to "this person is dumb enough to pay for a check."

  • Because the right-wing bigots complained about other users avoiding and blocking them, Musk now forces the blue-checks to be more visible. He's also looking into ways to remove blocking altogether.

  • His insistence on showing Matt Walsh's propaganda film forced the head of content safety and moderation to quit after she removed the video and he reinstated it.

And that doesn't count the things that don't affect the public, like using the Trump method of not paying their bills such as their use of AWS or office leases.

There's also the outrageous API fees that reddit is copying.

Firefox + LibRedirect extension to Nitter

[–] justabrownie 7 points 1 year ago

First I've heard of LibRedirect, why didn't I know about this earlier 😭

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 year ago (1 children)

fr, this happens with instagram too like I am not logging into ur dumb website

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

you can replace "Instagram" with "imginn" in the URL and view the content, as long as the account isn't set to private.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago

Thank you :) i didnt know this works.

[–] tsukii 9 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Unrelated but the thing about Twitter that kinda irritates me is when it asked me if I wanted to view an account that may have NSFW work, because when I said yes, it still doesn't display those NSFW work if you are underage, like why do you need to warn me about that in the first place if you know I'm underage LMAO

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Do people really set their real birth date on online services? Would only set it on Facebook tbh. Or when you need to pay, etc.

I just replace Twitter with nitter.42l.fr

I also used to comment it alot on reddit under Twitter links

[–] subtext 15 points 1 year ago (2 children)

nitter.net is easier to remember IMO

[–] x4740N 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Huh last time I used it it was slow as fuck, I wonder what changed

[–] thadah 7 points 1 year ago

nitter.nl or nitter.fly.dev are good alternatives, nitter.net was also very slow for me.

[–] Xylinna 4 points 1 year ago

Whelp, I had no idea this was a thing but I am happy to now know about it!

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

That's odd, i usually can open posts even without account and view them unless it's nsfw. It usually only asks me to login if i try to do anything more.

[–] SlappyRedcheeks 8 points 1 year ago

I use a VPN and have noticed different behavior based on the country that I'm connected with.

[–] fzacq9td 2 points 1 year ago

use nitter?
