Yeah, this doesn't surprise me at all. They actually forgot something. Not only are women sexualised almost constantly but queerness is fetishized by heteros. It's seen as "socially acceptable" for women to be gay if doing so for the approval of men (ie. party lesbians)

This is entirely true. I don't feel comfortable showing I'm lesbian when there's men around me because of it, but when i'm with women, queer or not, I'm comfortable and nothing bad come from it. But it's not everyone who have a safe place to be themselves, and then you have hard time to accept yourself

It needs a bit of clarification: only good/passable looking girls get free "gay" pass. Old, ugly (or both) les women aren't perceived as "socially acceptable" either.

I guess it's because we're hardwired to respond on every level to subjectively aesthetically pleasing, evocative images.

Just read the article. Not that I am a lesbian, nor a CIS woman, but I found it interesting. Is there any scientific/social research for this? I knew what I was and what I was not when I was a child, but social and parental pressure made me suppress it heavily until it exploded; still it took forever for it to come out and for me to resign myself to it.

It would be interesting to read a more thorough article about the subject. Apologies for intruding.

I have to find the article, but I read one showing that lesbian women have more difficulties affirming themselves as lesbian, the same way autistic women have more difficulties showing they are autistic, both because of the societal pressure that want women to fit way more in the norm than for men

Thank you. If you ever find the article and remember about it, please send it to me. I really am interested. :)
