As the video description notes, person making the video isn't a professional historian (and they're not from Japan), so some details may be off. Nevertheless, I thought it highlighted some interesting info to dig into and proposed an interesting possible contributing factor to hikikomori tendencies.

Was unaware Japan had also gotten tied up in eugenics garbage in the '40s for instance.

Hikikomori arise from some Japanese people giving up on fitting into their very conformist society. If this was the US, they would end up shooting up a school. But in Japan, the strongest rebellion is refusing to participate in society at all.

I found this video interesting and I too had no clue they were doing this. Will definitely keep eye on her future videos. She seems interested in disability history and don't think enough people study it.
