I got a tiny one for my grandma and it died completly except for one unripe fruit. so it just decided it'll stay green and identifies as a cactus now, because it started growing buds

It never ceases to entertain me how plants just do not care and will sprout roots from their leaves or decide to propagate themselves by just.. sending out a feeler and growing a whole extra body at the end of it.
Nice. I've found that the less you fuss over them the better they do. I live in Wisconsin and didn't know that they grew up here till about 10 years ago. Now I have a pretty good patch.
