Because they are desperately trying to prevent themselves from realizing that everyone’s experience ends at death.

I’ve spent over a decade listening to my my parents the older folks in my life that still believe do mental gymnastics to keep up that delusion, and to them the alternative is unacceptable because not only does it mean they will cease to be completely at some point but that the attitude they’ve approached their lives with will be revealed to be a cruel joke. No, you won’t be seeing your mother who died of cancer way too young again, and yes you did waste too much time on things that do not matter because you thought you had unlimited time.

Religions and faiths have committed a crazy number of crimes and heinous acts in our history. But I think the theft of the most valuable resource we as humans have gets called out the least

Are we fallen angels who didn’t want to believe that nothing is nothing and so were born to lose our loved ones and dear friends one by one and finally our own life, to see it proved?

The police, social workers and teachers are not to blame, however. They're often prevented from doing anything to interfere in child abuse, because Republicans, at the behest of the Christian right and under the guise of "parents rights," implement laws that make it very hard for authorities to deal with abusive parents. In many states, for instance, it's against the law for one adult to hit another adult, but you are allowed to hit a child so long as it doesn't bruise or break the skin. The teacher may not like watching a kid go hungry at lunch, but until the kid is in medical danger, it's not against the law in Utah. Republicans are so hostile to laws protecting the safety and well-being of children that they've even blocked the U.S. from ratifying the U.N. Convention on the Rights of the Child, making ours the only nation in the world that doesn't recognize the human rights of children.

Fucking monsters.

If you fall for religion you're probably gonna fall for everything else...

Because they define good and bad by group membership and submission to authority. Look at their beliefs. Many believe that love can only exist hierarchically.

Because they’re involved in them, the Mormon church funded* ruby franke and promoted her work. “Falling for” it makes it sound like it isn’t willful

*allegedly

Because Christianity is a con within itself.

I completely agree with you.

The average catholic church makes redditors look like they can be trusted to live within 300ft of a school
