There's a big difference between "9/11 was a conspiracy" and "9/11 was fake."
I think lots of folks agree that we didn't get the entire story behind what happened that day.
I think no one who was alive that day believes it was "fake."
"Oh, this is calamity! Calamity! Oh no, he's on the floor!"

Documenting hate speech, conspiracy theories, apologia/revisionism, and general tankie behaviour across the fediverse. Memes are welcome!
What is a Tankie?
(caution of biased source)
Basic Rules:
Sh.itjust.works Instance rules apply! If you are from other instances, please be mindful of the rules. — Basically, don't be a dick.
Hate-Speech — You should be familiar with this one already; practically all instances have the same rules on hate speech.
Apologia — (Using the Modern terminology for Apologia) No Defending, Denying, Justifying, Bolstering, or Differentiating authoritarian acts or endeavours, whether be a Pro-CCP viewpoint, Stalinism, Islamic Terrorism or any variation of Tankie Ideology.
Revisionism — No downplaying or denying atrocities past and present. Calling Tankies shills, foreign/federal agents, or bots also falls under this rule. Extremists exist. They are real. Do not call them shills or fake users as it handwaves their extremism.
Tankies can explain their views but may be criticised or attacked for them. Any slight infraction on the rules above will immediately earn a warning and possibly a ban.
Off-topic Discussion — Do not discuss unrelated topics to the point of derailing the thread. Stay focused on the direct content of the post as opposed to arguing.
You'll be warned if you're violating the instance and community rules. Continuing poor behaviour after being warned will result in a ban or removal of your comments. Bans typically only last 24 hours, but each subsequent infraction will double the amount. Depending on the content, the ban time may be increased. You may request an unban at any time.

I think lots of folks agree that we didn’t get the entire story behind what happened that day.
I think that's usually the line I hear before something absurd, inane, or insane is said.
Because the government is notorious for their transparency?
Government not being transparent doesn't mean that every crackpot conspiracy theory is true or even plausible.
Not every conspiracy.
But ones that lead to starting baseless wars for oil and money are certainly worth asking questions about.
Afghanistan doesn't even produce oil. And the lie used to invade Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11.
Correct. And neither Afghanistan nor Iraq had anything to do with 9/11. It has been proven over and over that it was the Saudis, but we don't want to attack them.
9/11 was used as an excuse to attack Afghanistan for their Taliban and strict religious beliefs. Then 9/11 was used as an excuse to invade Iraq for the WMDs. Both were not involved at all with 9/11.
People and corporations made billions of dollars off these wars, and it's reasonable to ask why they were started in the first place.
Do you not remember the whole issue of the Taliban offering safe haven to Osama Bin Laden and refusing extradition? That was the whole fucking reason we invaded. Or do you think harboring a Saudi terrorist who just orchestrated a massive terrorist attack is being 'uninvolved'?
Buddy. Calm down. I'm not making any argument here. I'm just saying given what the huge response was to 9/11 and how it seemed to largely miss the mark of who was involved - asking questions is a reasonable thing.
JAQing off is not an excuse to peddle conspiracies, though every conspiracy theorist I've ever met seems to think it is.
Feel free to believe the government, I guess and follow blindly into war.
I think it's smart to ask questions. Especially when the WMDs in Iraq were 100% incorrect.
Again, I don't believe most 9/11 conspiracies. But I do think it makes sense to ask questions when things don't align.
Cheney did 911
Only thing that ever stood out so much for me was the WTC building 4 collapse. Idk I was pretty dumb and into YouTube conspiracies back then so maybe it was BS.
Fire in a skyscraper is a huge issue.
Debris from tower 2 started a fire in tower 7.
And as anyone who works with steel can tell you, you don't need to get it that hot before it bends like a limp noodle. A blacksmith can forge with a wood fire as long as it's built up enough and has good air flow.
Broken windows and flaming debris made for the perfect setup for an uncontrollable fire.
So maybe what was bullshit?
They are saying that Building 8 Conspiracy Thories were probably bullshit.
The one thing that still makes me wonder about the whole thing is what the government was able to accomplish as a 'solution' to 9/11. From what I know about mk ultra, the crack epidemic, tuskegee, etc is that the government has no problems killing their own civilians to accomplish their goals.
Not saying that's what happened, but I just don't trust the feds, or state governments
Yeah it is certainly something...
Wake up, Sheeple! Bush Jr. was in the Air National Guard! A trained pilot! HE was the one flying the plane! smh, everyone falls for the "Terrorists doing things that they literally admit to doing for reasons that make sense within the context of their worldview and past actions" schtick when the obvious answer is right in front of them!
Heat weakened structural steel cannot withstand a tight 330' turn down thousands of feet!
Wake up people!
They are specifically discussing the Pentagon attack, not the entirety of the incidents that occurred on 9/11.
They also never state it was fake, rather that the story provided doesn't make a lot of sense so it seems like there is more to it.
Yes, you caught them, it was an ICBM all along.
How does the story not make sense?
I didn't say I agreed with it. Literally just pointing out what was being said in the comments. They didn't say it was fake, they said the story didn't make sense to them.
And I am asking how it does not make sense...?
I don't know, go ask them? I'm not familiar with conspiracy theories to know what the fuck they are talking about.
The issue is with the misrepresentation of the discussion. The OP says they believe 9/11 was fake, but in the discussion itself they only make vague comments about the "full story" not being told by officials. It doesn't matter what they are having a hard time believing about the story, or what they think is missing from the story. They didn't say, or hint at, them believing that 9/11 was "fake".
Fair enough.
