MODERATORS

The incident turned out to be a tragedy as confirmed by the US coast guard.

Any life is precious - this accident and others that being overshadowed by it.

To continue the tradition of r/dankmemes, it is the right thing to show same respect and refrain from making fun of the deceased.

Kind refrain from make memes on this topic for the next 2 weeks. May the victims of the indecent find peace.

Corporations wage wars against safety and kill, maim, and dismember people all the time. A dude at my grain mill literally lost an arm and a leg by having a rail car run over him when we were understaffed. Usually the losses aren't as public as the Titan, and the people lost already live on next to nothing and have a terrible quality of life.

I'll respect the dead, but OceanGate needs to get publicly ass-reamed.

You are correct, people should be held accountable for the incidents, and public system should take care of the common instead of making life harder

I absolutely agree, but I don't think the body of politic managing us would. Do you think there is hope for agency and freedom in the States or has deregulation effectively created a caste system of wealth that we can't circumvent?

I miss the America where we could identify and achieve a goal that bolstered everyone. I miss a sense of community and collective worth. This isn't the reality I signed up for, and I find myself spending more time ruminating on existential dread than coming up with answers.

I think the solution is simple, the current system has to change; but changing the current system is the hardest thing because people in power will do anything to stay in power and they have the power to do so make that happen

Dude was 19 and only went because he wanted to be with his dad on Father's Day. If nothing else sympathy for yet another kid gone too young.
