How can you unban someone who has been banned from a Lemmy community? I had a user post off-topic content which appeared to be trolling, but then send me paragraphs explaining how it was an error on their part. I banned them after their initial comment (because it really did just look like generic low-effort trolling), but now I can't figure out how to reverse the ban.

go to the offending group post from modlog. click 'more' or 'report' and choices just appeared. click

I'm not entirely sure myself, since I haven't banned anyone yet, but there is a "blocked user list" in the settings menu. Can you remove them from that list, maybe?

(your username in the upper right corner > "Settings" > then upper LEFT corner of the new window > "Blocks")

Unfortunately this doesn't work.

That block list you describe is for every user so they can modify witch other users they don't want to see (or other communities they don't want to see).

So it's not used for moderation.
