Odegaard's goal from last night is my favorite of the recent seasons I think. Beautiful one.

Seconded - what a strike, although I always have a soft spot for goals like Deccers. Nothing like a hectic deflection.

I do appreciate the extra salt in the wound. The feeling that you lost that game because that defender was a millisecond too slow, and just a bit away from a successful block... Good stuff.

They got exceptionally lucky that both Havertz and Saka blew two nailed-on chances, that last few minutes was just the universe righting itself.

@enhancedscurry @OlPatchy2Eyes

We definitely gave them plenty of chances to win...

And another hyper-emotional win for us. Hopefully this settles down asap because I think it cannot be sustained.

Not to mention, Onana getting half a hand to it and just pushing it into the net. I think even if the defender wasn't there, keeper wasn't quick enough to get down for that ball. No idea how rice puts so much on it under pressure and doesn't just sky it hahaha

Obviously that was more exciting but without context of the time it was scored or that it was the winner, it's just a goal off a cleared corner, so it's just a good strike. I was admiring the buildup and precision to Odegaard's goal. Martinelli's assist was a perfectly weighted nutmeg into an ice cold finish. What can I say, I guess I have a type.

Finally got a chance to watch the mini-game and man Fabio's pass to Jesus was Chef's Kiss

Just a bit of hindsight after the game: what the fuck did United actually do this window? Like, Onana is an upgrade, but I'm not convinced they've actually improved lol. Højlund is unproven at best, and while I think he could be good it's too early to tell; their midfield has replaced Fred with Mason Mount, and they have Reguilon on loan. Meanwhile Brighton have Ansu Fati, Newcastle have fucking Tonali, and Liverpool finally have an actual midfield.

[–] ironeaglebird 7 points 1 year ago

United fans have already turned on Mount.

Liverpool are looking like they'll be hard to beat.

Brighton getting Ansu Fati is amazing

I agree. I was seeing signing announcements from Man United, but they seemed so over the place. Haag is a solid coach, so he must have a plan. But I'm not seeing it.

Brighton have stepped it up from being a formidable side to being a mildly terrifying one. Fati was a WTF signing for them. But they had other excellent signing this window too. And they managed to keep hold of Ferguson as well. But most of all, like us they seem to have a very clear occurs of where they want to go tactically.

[–] Astrealix 4 points 1 year ago

Tbf Fati isn't the player he was before the injuries but still like what the fuck lol. If he can regain that confidence and ability Brighton should have a shout at CL.

Still pissed off at the non penalty. Was it a clear penalty? No. Was it an obvious error? No.

Reminded me of the David Luiz pen/red 2 years ago against Wolves that cost us fourth. That penalty stood with even less contact, and a more obvious dive. The bullshit gaslighting afterwards from MOTD, too!

[–] Astrealix 4 points 1 year ago

Just glad it didn't matter, and that VAR didn't fuck us with Gabriel's massive jump lol

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

@soycapitan451 @GunnersBot that’s what I said! If that bs penalty against wolves was one then this was one for sure!

[–] ironeaglebird 9 points 1 year ago

I was hoping the United match would provide some highlights I could replay over and over again to hold me over during the international break. It did not disappoint.

LOL, saw this screen grab, just now.

[–] Astrealix 8 points 1 year ago

Everyone thank @Eabryt for setting this up :D

Fabio Vieira has been a slow burner but I hope this is the point where he completely takes off. He will be a huge player for us I think.

[–] ironeaglebird 2 points 1 year ago

With his last name, he was destined to be huge for us.

This "Nominal fee" for Pepe from Besiktas will be sub-1 million.

[–] MHPengwingz 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Pepe to Besiktas...are we getting anything for it?

[–] enhancedscurry 5 points 1 year ago

Yes we get 140kpw.

[–] Astrealix 3 points 1 year ago

Fabrizio Romano said apparently El Ghazi who's a free agent was at the Emirates yesterday and is in discussions with at least one premier league club. Wonder if it's United with all the Dutch links lol.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Partey won't be in the squad against MC it seems. Also, I'm starting to wonder how we'll create space for Reuell, Nwaneri and Myles in the squad.

[–] Astrealix 5 points 1 year ago

I mean Walters has more than enough space to push in rn. I think we can afford to be patient with Myles and Ethan cuz they are still not even on a contract lol, but Ethan specifically could totally get minutes in the league cup, if not more.

Gabriel Jesus called up to replace Antony who has been dropped. Why are footballers so often cunts.
