It's my birthday - same date as a close friend too. We are having a relaxed tea and cakes on the lawn thing with other friends if the weather is up to it. Tea and cakes inside if not. I'll probably get out for a hike somewhere on the other day too.

The following weekend I am having an 'official birthday' and my SO has arranged a mystery outing to somewhere that she tells me isn't often open - hence the delay. I'm guessing some kind of specialist museum-y thing but I have no idea what exactly. Looking forward to it anyway.

It’s also my birthday! But no relaxation for us, I invited everyone over to help me build a giant patio cover in exchange for a steak dinner. I’ll consider not breaking my back a wonderful present.

Happy birthday! πŸŽ‚πŸ₯³πŸŽ‰

That sounds pretty tight, HBD and enjoy!

Well I'm currently sitting in the hospital with my wife waiting for active labor to happen because we just induced labor today.

So this weekend, I'll be figuring out how to take care of a newborn!

Haha, some reason I thought it was a pun on labor day. Congrats!

[–] RGB3x3 2 points 1 year ago

Ha, I didn't even realize, but it's perfect!

I'm going to the ardennes with friends. I'll be staying sober while the rest of them will be drinking and using coke. I'm wondering if I will enjoy this. I used to do these things to. But I've grown up unlinke my friends. I don't need this anymore.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

People change. I had a recent realization like that too. I changed. My friends stayed over, and we had fun out at the clubs in my city while they were in town.

They have a very unhealthy relationship with alcohol to put it lightly, lol.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Yeah I have a unhealty relationship with alcohol too. That's why I'm not drinking. I'm taking my coffeemaker with me and some very good Yirgacheffe :)

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Hope you can still enjoy the trip. P Some people change though... and some don't. Might just mean you need a new friend group.

Same as every weekend: Work.

[–] Lifecoach5000 10 points 1 year ago

I don’t know, but I will be outside since we won’t be hitting +100Β°F temps. If there’s anything this heat dome has done to me this year, it’s conditioned me to think temps in the 90s are glorious! πŸ™

Staying at the hospital :D No…it wasn’t a planned trip

I’m more of a spontaneous guy

Starfield early access hits tomorrow, I think it's gonna be tricky to convince myself to also do my washing, shopping, etc. this weekend!

Playing D&D with some people on Friday, then setting up my new Sawstop table saw. After that, building a miter saw station for some storage and more effective use of space in my shop. I doubt I'll finish that, but then I need to finish restoring an old planer from sometime between 1935 and 1986 (got everything taken apart, cleaned up, painted, put back together, just need to rewire it) so I can sell my cheap one. If I manage to get all of that done, then I have some nightstands to build

Camping! It's our first time taking our new Siberian husky with us so I'm looking forward to seeing how she does

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Going and meeting with the wedding officiant with my fiancΓ©e. Also meeting her aunt and uncle and cousins from another city. Probably playing some Cities: Skylines as well.

There's a club I've been meaning to get around to going to, I want to try this weekend

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago

I'm just going to relax and enjoy my time at home. I'll help my family with some yard work, they want to trim the hedge in our backyard. I'm pretty sure my stepdad will fire up the grill this weekend. I'm going to see if I can recover some lost data on my failed external hard drive or at the very least re-torrent what I lost, but a lot of those torrents were from RARBG before its closure.

My last real weekend before things get truly nuts at work for about six weeks. Happens twice a year, and really isn’t all that bad. It’s finance-adjacent, so deadlines and such are what they are.

Planning on a nap, assembling a piece of furniture I hope will improve my workflow, and…. Another nap.

Family gathering since it's going to be father's day on these parts of the world

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Father's Day here in Australia, but wife will be working. So my little girl and I are going to start the Clone Wars series together (she's a new fan, after we started Ahsoka, and now wants to watch all the back story).

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Heh, I just saw you over in the "what's the best thing that could happen to you this week" thread. Hope your little one enjoys the show!

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

Yeah, I'm pretty happy she's enjoying it.

Until now, she didn't seem hugely interested in the franchise, but Ahsoka was a great opportunity for her to see strong, female leads in a setting I enjoy.

We already have a really strong bond, but it's given us something new to connect over, which is awesome.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

I hope you guys are starting with the movie. Not that I'm a huge fan but it's where Ahsoka started and it's a fun contrast to the where the series ends up.
