AI jank is half the fun, I agree with that.
Especially when it's too damn stubborn. I once tried to make an AI generate a movie poster about someone riding a giant scorpion. But for some reason the AI kept associating the word riding with motorcycles and refused to put anything but a motorcycle in the image.
I kept on pushing for my scorpion and finally the AI just generated this monstrosity to shut me up.
Man riding a motorcyle scorpion

I just saw somebody having this problem with ai generated images and somebody told them to use the phrase traveling astride instead of ride and it generated better results

Edit: that is a pretty sick poster too though

Yea I know, I was that somebody :)
It’s funny how something as simple as a single word can have such a huge impact.

Ahhhh Cleverbot. I miss that stupid thing, it always devolved to "I'm not a robot, you're a robot" arguments but at the time it was still a cool toy.

Current AI bots don't feel all that much better if I'm going to be super honest. Yes they're more advanced, certainly more complex, but they often fail to the same faults as the old cleverbot era ones. It feels more like they got better at mimicking being more clever, but actually aren't. If that makes any sense.

I miss you too…

Young men are bound to grow up with an AI NPC girlfriend in one of their favorite video games in the next decade +.

This is going to be a weird one

Also, violence will happen because of it somehow

Because this is the internet and one can never be certain of anything, I need to know that you have some idea of the severe emotional isolation that creates dysfunctional abusers and that people who have only ever socialized with (and even prefer) something that physically can't reject them are not wonderful dating partners. Please say psych.

There is no problem we are going to fix by distancing ourselves even further from each other, especially not a social one. It is insane. It won't end well.

What? Yes. That's why I said having AI girlfriends will lead to violence. The "somehow" was spurious / sarcastic, it is very clear and direct what the consequences are

i miss when Al generated content was bad. when the standard was like "i asked Al to show me a picture of a dog” and the result is just some furry flesh amalgam with 3 paws and a mis-centered face. when people asked Al to write it scripts for tv shows and it gave nonsequeter nonsense. genuinely got more value out of that because at least it was funny.

i dont want a realistic Al girlfriend trained on human conversations i want Als like cleverbot that gets stuck in a logic loop and insists my name is steve for no reason. i miss her.

I'm sure an AI could make you a stupid useless AI if you asked

"This character is a staunch supporter of Donald Trump."

Have you played with AI recently? This is very much where we're at still. AI is pretty good when you ask it straightforward questions (at which point it sounds like the most boring librarian in existence), but deviate from the norm a bit and it'll gaslight the shit out of you. AI is useful as long as your queries are as complicated as grandma's Google search prompt.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago

AI is still pretty incompetent, if you wanna see someone harass an AI for 2hrs, here you go (cw for sexual harassment of AI, and yes, he did stream the game again). The problem is that AI is competent enough to give the impression of intelligence without actually being intelligent. It's intelligent enough to pose a threat without actually being one. I almost guarantee that a lot of the companies championing AI will probably not be around in 5 years, or will at the very least be backpedaling as they realize the AI they were sold can't actually do half of what was advertised. Especially because corporations are probably the driving cause behind AI getting dumbed down. The more they try to censor it to make it "professional" and "polite" and the less willing they are to wait for it to come up with a competent answer, the more useless it'll become.

Tumblr is doing a One Piece Netflix tie-in, and you can claim up to 50 free straw hat badges so this is what most of the site looks like now lol.

Quiet, Steve.

Why do you summon me, robot?
