Up to most of 2010s. Then the money started rolling in.
Exactly when the Citizens United Supreme Court decision legalized unlimited dark money in politics.
Basically all the way up until Obama laughed at Romney about it during the debates.

I started seeing the shift when I was in liveleak early 2010s, that's when their propaganda machine started spooling up and targeting conservative corners of the internet.
Russia was never the enemy. Communism was.
And an authoritarian shithole Russia with all power in the hands of some oligarchs is basically the dream to aspire to.
That's why Trump loves Putin so much, and thinks he's such a genius. He just wishes the US was a mafia state that he was the head of
Russia is not (and never was) a country, it's a state of mind.
And currently that SoM is as wacko as the GOP's one...
All three of the top GOP candidates are anti-Ukraine and pro-Russia. Speaking as someone who fucking hates the GOP, it wasn't always like this. But Russian money corrupts.
I think it's wrong to claim that money is the reason. We simply need to accept the fact that they love the idea of an autoritarian state with all power in the hands of some incredible rich people. And that Russia was never an enemy, communism was...
There's that too, but as late as 2015 the GOP was still largely anti-Russia.
Some of them claimed that they were, but they do a lot of lying, and the money stream certainly goes back a lot further than that.

Their money isn't worth shit since the invasion. Having no particular knowledge on the subject, i can't imagine they'd be doing much bribery the last few years. These people are otherwise compromised, or what i think more likely, Russia just helped start the culture war fire, and we're fanning the flames ourselves.
I doubt this charlatan gives a damn about Russia or Ukraine, he's just being a contrarian because that gets you a sizable base of voters now.
Man, they aren't paying in rubles, that'd be dumb as shit, even for Russia. Some of the richest people in the world are, and remain, Russian oligarchs with close ties to Putin - and most of their money ain't in rubles.
As a registered Republican any candidate who doesn't support Ukraine will not get my vote in the primary. And if the party nominee doesn't support Ukraine I will vote outside the party in the general election.
I hope more Republican voters hold your stance.
