Hey all,

Do you have any recommendations for a wearos watch? Or is the Google pixel watch and Samsung galaxy 5 the go to nowadays?

Fossil and Mobvid's TicWatches are normally my go to alternatives, but personally, I haven't been impressed with their latest offerings. Google and Samsung really do have the best WearOS devices, if that's what you're looking for.

That said, I realized recently I wasn't using most of the features in WearOS. I had a dozen apps and barely used any of them. All I really used it for was notifications, music controls, and as a basic step counter.

Picked up a PineTime and I'm pretty happy with it. It's basic, but it's cheap, repairable, and I can flash alternate firmware/oses on it easily with gadgetbridge.

I can second PineTime as well if you want super minimal for a very low price. I've also enjoyed the Fossil Hybrid HR Smartwatches if you you'd like two week battery life and don't mind physical arms and eink.

Ik it's not a Wearos device, but anyone still rocking a Pebble? Mine just won't seem to die and I'm all too happy to continue wearing it until it does

Basically yes, GW and pixel. Some people like new mobvoi, but it is huge, seconds screen is a questionable aesthetic, materials are not that great, and mobvoi had a or fiasco with promising and not delivering wearos for their previous models. Gw6 will be presented in 20 days.

Yeah I'd go with some reliable company that delivers updates. I've heard of some company promised wearos 3,yet never delivered it 😅 but forgot which company it was. GW looks good, but their watches are locked down to Samsung phones sadly, like the ecg, sleep tracking etc don't work with other phones. I own a pixel 7 so idk of it'd work well 😅

GW is not that locked as many thinks. For example, sleep tracking is not locked, ECG can be unlocked, and "etc" is mostly minor features which other watches do not have at all.

This is the most complete list of Samsung phone only features I managed to collect: https://medium.com/@mrgelberhut/galaxy-watch-4-5-features-which-require-a-samsung-phone-df574998b817

I've been using the TicWatch Pro 5 and it's been great so far. The new Snapdragon chip plus the secondary low power display delivers on great app performance and 3-5 day battery life
