This is an excellent example of why you cant give away your right of way. The car that waited "gave" the SUV permission, but couldnt speak for any other road user.

I disagree, the highlander was accelerating and clearly planning to turn whether the POV car stopped or not. POV driver didn't "give away" his right of way, they were merely reacting to what the Highlander driver was doing. To hit the brakes when someone is turning right in front of you would be the reaction from many drivers and IMO is the only sane reaction to that. Was the POV driver supposed to accelerate towards him in some sort of stupid game of chicken? That would be the reaction of an insane person who should not be driving at all.
