Today we're announcing the launch of AMBER Alerts on TikTok with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC). This brings critical, time-sensitive information directly to people's For You feeds to raise awareness of missing children and leverage the power of the US TikTok community to help reunite them with their families.

Last year we piloted AMBER Alerts with our community in Texas. From August to December 2024, AMBER Alerts on TikTok were viewed over 20 million times and contributed to 2.5 million visits to NCMEC's website. Now, we're expanding these alerts to more than 170 million Americans, so when an AMBER Alert is issued, we'll show the alert in the For You feed of those within the area.

For a moment there I interpreted the title wrong and thought people would start receiving TikTok content through amber alert systems.

I wonder if people are going to hit the red button by mistake.

I’m surprised it doesn’t have a TikTok logo watermark. Looks really strange.

And can’t they fit at least one Family Guy episode in the empty space down at the bottom?

(Never used the app so I was wondering why it still looked off to me...)

I wonder if it still has the annoying robot lady saying "Am-ber alert in your ar-e-a! :D" in her stupid bubbly voice. And it's not a proper TickTock without the signature bloop sound at the end.

This is actually cool. The normal alert system on the phone doesn't push images, just text (or at least, none of the alerts I've ever seen have pictures). Having a picture of the victim and/or suspect would be way more helpful than a description. Unfortunately, I don't use TikTok :/
