The American mind cannot comprehend this

[โ€“] jaaake 30 points 1 week ago (3 children)

The American mind wonders why the yolks are a deep orange instead of neon yellow.

[โ€“] [email protected] 17 points 1 week ago

You're not kidding. I lived on land with ducks and chickens. Not only are the yolks a deep and rich color, they're thicker and more sticky. I miss having fresh duck eggs daily.

[โ€“] [email protected] 16 points 1 week ago (2 children)

It's just a matter of what you feed the chickens dude

[โ€“] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Yes, but there's no amount of cheap or low quality food pellets that would make them this dark. That's the whole point.

[โ€“] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago

I'm a convert, personally. I used to buy cheap eggs in America and I'd always drown them in hot sauce and salt to give them a flavour. Now in England I don't buy eggs unless I'm in the mood for eggs, and it's always really good ones, sometimes duck. There's just no comparison, and I feel a bit better about how the animals are treated of course.

Other chickens.

The European mind has never learned of carotenoids, I guess.

Literally. I'm just sitting here wondering if European trains have a first class section or something.

The only eggs you'll find on an American train come in the form of a used tampon left on the floor...

[โ€“] [email protected] 27 points 1 week ago (1 children)

They do have first class. But the on board restaurant (if there is one) is accessable for all, not only 1st class travelers.

[โ€“] [email protected] 15 points 1 week ago (1 children)

But in some trains, 1st class also includes service to your seat, while peasants need to walk to the restaurant car.

[โ€“] biofaust 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Which means only that lazy rich passengers miss an opportunity to start conversation and score in the restaurant car.

[โ€“] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago

Who would want to talk to peasants? Hon hon hon

We paid a tiny bit more on a german train for dinner, fresh fish iirc and it was delicious, served by a waiter, god the railways in the uk are shit.

[โ€“] [email protected] 2 points 1 week ago

Do English trains have actual food anymore, even in first class? It's been years since I travelled first class.

[โ€“] [email protected] 6 points 1 week ago

Omg thanks for the visual!

[โ€“] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago

Uhhh Amtrak has both First Class as well as Diner Cars with eggs lol. Itโ€™s just so slow and shitty that youโ€™ve never bothered to be on it.

[โ€“] ikidd 4 points 1 week ago

You can use that as a teabag!

[โ€“] [email protected] 3 points 1 week ago

Y'all are never getting rid of me je voudrais manger all this merde up in here

[โ€“] [email protected] 3 points 1 week ago

Eggs that look like they've been sitting out a while? Everything else looks very good though.

[โ€“] [email protected] 2 points 1 week ago

It looks good though.

this is the future they took from us

[โ€“] [email protected] 20 points 1 week ago

that looks amazing for a train bistro plate

[โ€“] [email protected] 20 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Obligatory how much did it cost, for the English getting reamed.

[โ€“] sober_monk 29 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Based on the brochure on the table, this looks like a MรV train, so probably 3,50โ‚ฌ for the food and 1,70โ‚ฌ for the coffee (source PDF). YMMV depending on which route you take.

[โ€“] [email protected] 7 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Good work detective. What a bargain! How about the train fares?

[โ€“] sober_monk 8 points 1 week ago

Budapest to Vienna starts at 13โ‚ฌ. Budapest to Hamburg is around 88โ‚ฌ. Discounts may apply to students and seniors.

[โ€“] [email protected] 17 points 1 week ago

Damn that looks tasty.

[โ€“] [email protected] 13 points 1 week ago

This is some gourmet shit

[โ€“] angrystego 10 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I've had it with these European eggs in this European train!

[โ€“] [email protected] 1 points 1 week ago

Yeah, they make me want public transport and affordable eggsโ€ฆ ๐Ÿ˜ญ

I'm all for fucking over US businesses, but this sub is becoming a bit mastabatory.

That's a weird looking Spanish omelette, made in the tiniest train kitchen by a chef who usually checks your tickets.

Let's not pat ourselves too hard on the back here.

[โ€“] [email protected] 3 points 1 week ago

We almost had a train here in Alberta but it got cancelled until further notice because our provincial government is a dumpster fire of stupidity.

[โ€“] [email protected] 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Ah, thatโ€™s why the social cohesion is broken in the US!

[โ€“] werefreeatlast 1 points 1 week ago

No trains, no eggs, no eggs on trains! Sam you let me be!

[โ€“] [email protected] 2 points 1 week ago

Lookin' good

[โ€“] ricdeh 1 points 1 week ago

Omg this looks so good, sadly the food in German ICEs is not this colourful :(

[โ€“] agent_nycto 1 points 1 week ago

That's a healthy looking yolk, don't usually see them like that in the states

[โ€“] werefreeatlast 1 points 1 week ago

How are those eggs tasting?

I'm Vegan, asking for America.
