No these are not Darwin awards. Its murder, manslaughter and negligence.
A Darwin award is for removing yourself from the genepool not killing your and other peoples children while staying potentially fertile yourself.
Come on, now. It can't be manslaughter and murder. Be angry, but be angry and logically consistent.
Technically speaking a Darwin Award can be given to someone that removes their contributions to the gene pool while also risking themselves. There was a nomination for a scientist that tested a venom on himself and his son, for example.

I often wonder just how "conscious" we are. I mean, we're animals, we're products of evolution, we're apes. At what point is this just a subset of our species who lacks the ability to prevent their own demise?

It's sad that people are killing their children. It's not the children's fault their parents are idiots.
