I was looking for a junior Unix sysadmin (not too green pasture where I am, either positions were not junior level, or it was a lot of Windows and usual stupid IT) job.
Eventually landed one which is about systems integration, for a very general set of skills and very narrow application area. Basically showed my skills at automating things with a knot of scripts, installed and set up Asterisk, explained a few pcaps, and then I was accepted (for a trial period). But it was a rare coincidence, since then I don't remember new people for similar positions being hired. Tech writers - yes. Support - yes. Developers - yes. Deploy engineers - no.
Sometimes I work well, maybe more often - not, but it kinda balances out. I hope.
