Good morning, fellow sobernauts, IWNDWYT ๐Ÿ˜!

We may be anonymous strangers on the internet, but we have one thing in common. We may be a world apart, but weโ€™re here together!

Welcome to the 24 hour pledge! Iโ€™m pledging myself to not drinking today, and invite you to do the same.

Maybe youโ€™re new to c/stop drinking and have a hard time deciding what to do next. Maybe youโ€™re like me and feel you need a daily commitment or maybe youโ€™ve been sober for a long time and want to inspire others.

It doesnโ€™t matter if youโ€™re still hung over from a three day bender or been sober for years, if you just woke up or have already completed a sober day. For the next 24 hours, letโ€™s not drink alcohol!

I had such a good day 4, zoom AA meetings all day doing service. im filled with golden light and confidence in my sobriety, but I know I'm going to wake up tomorrow and say "fk I need a drink"

so I've decided to quit sleeping! day 1 wish me luck

Day 5 today -- got a social event this evening at my fave pub (across the street from my flat). Gonna be tricky, but we'll get there! IWNDWYT!

Hopefully everybody has a good Wednesday - we're halfway through the week, and heading towards the weekend quickly! What's on people's agendas for the end of the week? ๐Ÿ‘€

Do you have a plan for the evening? AF drinks chosen in advance, someone in standby with a plausible excuse if you need to get out?

Good tips! Thank you ๐Ÿ˜Š

Nice work getting to day 5! Good luck with your event tonight. Social events are tough for me too because I am naturally introverted and a little shy so I leaned heavily on the booze for almost any social interaction I had as an adult. Thankfully with the proliferation of NA brews, I've had decent success with holding onto one of those at a party.

No plans for the weekend yet. Things are just starting to thaw out here where I live. You got anything going on this weekend?

[โ€“] rayquetzalcoatl 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Thank you! Totally with you on the introversion. I've also buried that part of myself massively while I've been drinking these past few years, and it's tough getting back to it when going sober because it makes people think I'm miserable and need to be checked up on and pestered, when really I just want to be left alone ๐Ÿ˜…

Yeah it's still freezing here too! No plans for the weekend, although I am thinking of walking a few miles to a big historic cathedral to unwind and stay off the phone ๐Ÿ˜‚

[โ€“] [email protected] 2 points 3 days ago

I can definitely relate to that. Consequently I rarely go to social events anymore. I usually decide if booze is the main feature of the event and decide to go based on that. The NA brew comes in handy to make you look like your part of the party so no one has those questions about why youre not 'having fun' like the rest of them. It can be demoralizing to someone aspiring to a more sober self.

A nice hike is always a great option! Hope it goes well for you if you decide to go. I hear you on the phone thing ๐Ÿ˜…

gz on a business week. first week sucks, good luck with your event, have an escape plan! someone you can call. I've been in my favourite pub 3 weeks sober friday night happy hour, atmosphere popping off. I was there for work but it was deadly I got in and out quicksmart. didn't relapse, but didn't last. im not saying avoid events or alcohol entirely but stay safe and call someone. do u have WhatsApp?

[โ€“] rayquetzalcoatl 2 points 3 days ago

Yeah it's been weird this year! The past three years I've done the first four months sober but this year I just can't get off the ground for some reason ๐Ÿ˜… well done on not relapsing last time you were in that pub!

I will not drink with you today!
