Apple finally enabled rcs in the last week, at least for Verizon, all kinds of things and kinks are expected.
Or it could also be some people don't want to send read receipts, I've always thought they And "typing" indicators were creepy AF
While I'm not a fan of either, I think "typing" indicators are a natural response to read receipts unfortunately. Sending a read receipt applies time pressure, because now the other person knows you've seen it. So, the "typing" indicator lets them know that you're working on a response and not ignoring them.
If we just didn't send read receipts we wouldn't need "typing" indicators at all. It's a case of unnecessary complexity causing unnecessary complexity
Yeah, it's all just creepy, anxiety inducing design to force interaction. Ask most people and they feel pressured to respond to texts--and that was even before rcs.
I noticed it for a few hours with an iPhone user. It spontaneously resolved later that day, but it did seem very odd to me
I'm on Android. None of my iPhone RCS conversations have working read receipts.
