It just sits there, looking at me, asking why I don’t blare a power chord. And it’s been years since I gave it an attempt.
I do, though, have an acoustic bass right by my bed. Sometimes I play a few licks. And that’s fun.
But I really should start writing songs again.

Do it for 5 minutes and stop if you dont want to keep going. Do that a few times and you'll know if it's just nostalgia.
I think it's been almost 8 years for me. Which is wild because I played for 25 years straight before I stopped.
I got back into drumming about a year ago after a 10 year hiatus. Give it a try sometime and you might get hooked again like me. Warning though; I was terrible initially getting back into it but now I feel like I'm even better than I was before.
