“Between 2007 and 2013, USAID spent over US$120 million to subvert the constitutional order in Cuba. It is unusual for an official development agency to spend money to support a change of government and enrich those who see a business in the suffering of the Cuban people,” he said on social media.

i was glad to see trump's efforts at dismantling the cia; it sort became like a silver lining to the dark cloud that was trump dismantling the entire federal government and now it looks like usaid might be another silver lining.

i was only vaguely aware that usaid was a duplicitous organization; offering aid with strings attached like the imf; but seeing news stories like this come to the surface has solidified to me how much more damage than good that they were doing to this world

It may look like the Trump administration is dismantling the spook-industrial complex, but what it’s doing is reorganizing it. It’s not going to go away.

Yeah I expect him to privatize it.

yes and i'm hoping that it's next version is less capable of spreading the misery it has been spreading for the last 100-ish years.

@[email protected] Oh USAid was an intelligence cutout 100%, they only did a token amount of good to make their legend plausible. The bulk was spent on NGOs to create “civil society” groups to invoke street demonstrations leading to (hopefully regime change). None of the colour revolutions and attempts, (think Hong Kong, Arab Spring etc.) were organic in nature — All were artificial. Numerous examples. Moreover, another thing to come out is all the bioweapon labs the US has installed in the eastern Baltic's including Ukraine. The Wuhan outbreak is simply the tip of the iceberg. Unfortunately.

Much of the “good” that USAID did was in the service of economically undermining neocolonized states from developing food sovereignty. Imperialist states want their vassal states to farm cash crops for them, not staple foods for their people.

Oh man, I heard it also funded the fake moon landing.

Now that we've slashed it, let's make USAID look bad too! It was good that we killed it! (Do I need to /s here?)

I mean it did some good, but a lot of us perfectly sane people who also don't like the way the US projects soft power through a system of clandestine agencies using NGOs as cover, don't miss it.

Was this the way to stop it? Absolutely not. But honestly, I'm guessing the fact it was so intertwined with some deeply helpful agencies specifically towards red state farmer's, it was supposed to be painful to audit and get rid of. Fuck Elon and all that shit I need to say to virtue signal so people don't knee jerk not listen.

But also look into the propoganda our own country has fed us.

Right wingers: wait wait I love USAID now!
