Let's see if they can still afford rent, or if the new landowners will even offer to renew their lease.

Pretty sure there will be Condos there in no time :(

I don’t get why one would want to live in condos on Barton Springs if everything that makes Barton Springs interesting is replaced by more condos.

You could replace “Barton Springs” with “Austin” in that sentence and it would still make sense.

I still don’t see the city cracking down on strip malls or AirBnBs. If we need more housing, require the strip malls to build as multi use. Give a rent discount to people that work in the shops there. Tear down the silly empty malls. Make UT build housing on some of the mucho empty land they own in Austin. Start taxing, regulating, and zoning bnbs as the hotel/motels they really are.

The short term rentals really are a giant problem. I don't know how accurate that data is but I know they are everywhere.

This is terrible but not wholly surprising news. But I actually thought they had been there a lot longer than 1999, I feel like I've been going there forever.

Article says 1948, I think 99 was just recent lease agreement

Yeah that makes tons more sense.

Man, that sucks. I hope they can reopen at a new location if they do get pushed out.
