Rules

AI Art: While we appreciate AI generated art, there are more appropriate communities to post that type of art to. Please keep posts to non-AI generated art only. This rule includes AI art that was then manually manipulated (e.g. drawing on top of something generated by AI).

Nudity: Nudity is and has always been a part of art, but it may be something that some users don't wish to see or cannot view in certain circumstances (e.g. at work). If your work contains nudity, please mark it as NSFW. Work that contains nudity that is not marked as NSFW will be taken down. As long as the NSFW tag is used, we welcome nude subject matter.

Spam: Please do not spam this community. Self promotion is fine if you just want people to be aware of your work, but blatant attempts at spam will result in the past being removed and possibly a ban. If you aren't sure if what you are posting is spam, please contact the moderator first.

Conduct: Be nice, and don't be a jerk. Constructive criticism is OK, but don't be mean. Encouragement is always welcomed.

No, not yet. It's a good likeness but I can't get the badass kindness in his expression. Mine is just too intense and I'm not sure why. Plus the eyes are too big and a few other proportional things. What else am I missing?

I feel like the painting looks more like my brother than Mr. Jackson.

Someone didn't measure for this one.

I think the biggest issue with the expression is that you turned him completely en face and tilted the head down. Just compare the proportions of nose-to-chin and forehead in the picture and painting. That's why he went from chill to "paint my face one more time motherfucker!!!"

LMAO! I think the sketch I did first was pretty close and as I painted I got further and further away and didn't notice until I was done. I'm trying to just use one layer like a traditional painter would and it floated away from me one at a time. I made marks for chin, eyes, mouth, ears, and so on along with the sketch.

Normally I'd step away from the painting and come back and fix and go again (trying to mirror Pablo Picasso), but as I'm practicing for these painting sessions I won't be able to do that so I'm trying to find a new technique (like Tigger Woods did for his golf swing) that will work in those sessions and I'm struggling.

The likeness is totally there but I also immediately felt that the expression in your version is off. He looks more like the badass mf from some movies.

For me it's the eyebrows (the one on the right is lower than in the original, which gives him a stern expression) and I guess some very small expressions to the left around his mouth.

I'm veeeery far from being an expert but maybe it'll be helpful to learn a bit more about expressions in general so you better understand what's going on in his face and which details are crucial to keep it that way.

I'd like to make a joke about why you paint Dave Chappelle so much, but jerks wouldn't get the joke and claim I was racist. Now do some younger Sammy it makes me sad seeing him so old.

I almost did younger Sammy when I did this one. But I'm old and like old. I'll do young next.
