I’m getting my concealed carry license in about 3 weeks. Are there any companies that offer concealed carry insurance that don’t donate to political campaigns or PACs?

Edit: missed the word “don’t”

I've had my permit for ages and ages. Like 23 years or so. I've not carried insurance.

Idk that I would

You carry it so you don't end up with a lawyer bill the size of a medical bill. That's the only reason most of us have it.

That’s really what I’m concerned about. I’m not some trigger happy maniac, but if I’m forced to defend myself or my family I don’t want to end up destitute because of it.

You will %100 be happy to have it if, god forbid, you ever have to defend yourself with lethal force. As the police will %99.99 of the time arrest you, as it's basically protocol until they have straightened everything out.

Which is understandable to be honest. If I’m a cop and I show up to one guy dead and another holding a gun, I’m not going to just let him walk away without a little context.

That's very fair. It's been something I've looked at.. but haven't given much thought... Apparently it's a popular idea and I should revisit.

Yep, it's peace of mind that you don't have to worry about the financial side of this. As there will be a mental side that's going to need help.

I've had Legal Shield for years. I think it's $30/mo.? Anyway, it's maybe not what you're asking for, but it's damned nice to have a lawyer on the phone for free.

Life is so much easier when you can pick up the phone and ask, "Is this some bullshit or what?" If you turn out to have real problems, you get a 25% discount. Between my divorce and child custody issues, I'll never pay enough to make the difference.

Thanks for the suggestion! I just looked them up, and they do in fact offer a supplemental plan for gun owners that includes trial defense.

Only in america could you need a gun to protect yourself and an insurance policy to protect you from the consequences of carrying a gun.

The cherry on the cake was when somebody stated the legal bill could be as high as a medical bill.

lol yeah I laughed at the medical bill comparison, too. I don’t generally find myself in situations where I really feel like I need a gun, but I at least want the option. I just don’t want to end up on the wrong side of a wrongful death suit or something without a lawyer.

I'm unfortunately not terribly versed in carry insurance. You could consider just donating to such groups directly. FPC and SAF come to mind as two groups that actively make the world a better place for the average gun owner.

A) why? This is not like car insurance because you drive cars and accidents happen. If you are carrying and think you need insurance I think you're probably a little too happy to carry.

B) that donates to PACs? No. If I knew an answer I wouldnt tell you just for this angle. Protect yourself as you need to, the politics don't matter at all. At all. Any pac you're interested in related to CCP for is a Russian shell company anyway and you should forget it. It makes us all look like morons.

  1. even if I do nothing wrong, I might still end up dealing with a lawsuit. I’d rather not have to spend all my own money on a lawyer

  2. whoops, missed a word. I want one that doesn’t donate to PACs.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Aha well with the word fix it is better and I can honestly say I have never investigated. Instead, I have preselected a lawyer for such situations, but it's not perfect.

[–] Ep1cFac3pa1m 3 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I want the insurance, but I don’t want my money contributing to some fascist asshole running for office. I can’t really think of a way to research whether or not a corporation contributes to PACs (which is probably intentional).

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Dont contribute to the NRA in any event.

[–] Ep1cFac3pa1m 2 points 2 days ago

Oh dear god no
