Why would you want this? You know they’re gonna just tax you in some other way, right?

Saying words isn't the same as doing something.

This is also an incredibly stupid thing to do and will cost YOU even more money in taxes, while giving his rich handlers even more tax breaks.

the lack of appreciation of history is astounding

So there is a lot of history mentioned in the article. I was reasonably certain while reading that there is history that can be used to provide a counter argument. Then I read your comment and was sure of it, sadly you were light on details and I would really love to hear them.

He then delved into the historical context, highlighting the period from 1870 to 1913 as "the richest period in the history of the United States."

This time period is colloquially known as the Gilded Age. A time where there was rampant corruption and inequality. The country wasnt rich. Its not too different now, I guess. But wealth was very concentrated to the few. There were barely any labour rights.

Versus the time after WW2 where america become a global super power. Far wealthier than ever before. after federal income tax was implemented. It was a time where wealth trended to becoming less concentrated.

Consider what trump wants and look at history in that context. When he says “america was richest” he means his cronies. The wealthy. Not the whole population.

Removing federal income tax will means even more money for the wealthy and even less support for the working class.

Thank you. That was very insightful.

About damn time. And since there'll be no money, just get rid of the FBI, CIA and the army. Who needs any of that? States can just raise their own local armies so they can finally have a real scrap.

Not a big fan of the tarrifs - a dangerous bet. His goal doesn't seem to be using tarrifs to end income tax, but force other countries into submission. Wondering how this will play out.
