Granted impunity for his own conduct, Trump extends it to the rioters.

I know there's intentionally too many pieces of awful news to follow, but this is a huge one. Trump barely differentiated - even for those he didn't pardon, he commuted the sentences.

That includes the Oath Keepers and Proud Boys leaders who explicitly planned to overthrow the election and were convicted of sedition. You better believe they're not going to retire quietly, he's given the greenlight for them to ignore all criminal law as long as they are acting on his behalf. The insurrection has been legitimized.

It seems like there was no reason to temper our pessimism. By all signs, we're here, at the end of democracy.

RIP American democracy....

From one felon to another. It's poetic justice that a country that refuses to hold the rich accountable to actions, has now enabled one of them to end the rule of law completely.

It's seriously over if it was hanging on by anything. Sad and awful times ahead with history as our guide.

Gotta admit, I wasn't expecting him to actually follow through with that.

How’s he going to inspire another riot if he doesn’t pardon this one?

At lot of them, sure.

But more than stupidity there’s also greed and hate.

The best brownshirts are the grateful ones.
