"U.S. President Joe Biden then touted the deal from Washington, saying the ceasefire will stay in place as long as Israel and Hamas remain at the negotiating table over a long-term truce. Biden said his administration and President-elect Donald Trump’s team were “speaking as one” in the negotiations."

Link to the live updates: https://www.aljazeera.com/news/liveblog/2025/1/16/live-celebrations-in-gaza-as-israel-hamas-reach-ceasefire-deal

Keep in mind that Israel has a long history of breaking Ceasefires and also ramping up their bombing campaigns right up until the ceasefire comes into effect

I expect Netanyahu to break the ceasefire as quickly as he can after currying favor with Trump by timing this ceasefire. Israel's Zionist leadership is by no means any less genocidal and are dead set on expanding into a Greater Israel, backed and funded by the US

From the link above:

  • Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has held up the cabinet vote on the ceasefire deal that prompted premature celebrations in Gaza and was expected to take effect on Sunday, January 19.
  • The Israeli military has stepped up attacks on the Gaza Strip since the announcement, killing at least 40 Palestinians, according to media reports.

At this point my only hope for the emancipation of Palestine is the collapse of the US Empire. If anyone can accomplish that, it would be Trump with his fascist domestic and international ambitions

The prime minister of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, said the ceasefire would go into effect on Sunday and that its success would depend on Israel and Hamas “acting in good faith in order to ensure that this agreement does not collapse.”

So it's gonna collapse Monday simply based on the other Israeli ceasefires the last year?

The day before Trumps inauguration. Interesting timing.

Yeah probably.

It's not gonna hold. They are going to finish their genocide in the next 4 years with US tax dollars backing it up. Then they gonna spend the next 20 years denying it was genocide. After that, we'll have a Palestinian Genocide Memorial Day.

Israel apparently has not yet fully approved the deal, so hold on to your hats for now!

Vote is apparently on Thursday.

FTA:

"Any agreement must be approved by Netanyahu’s Cabinet."

I just want to know whether or not they agree to let aid in. Because if they don't, this is still the end of Gaza.

Well, they started blocking aid in the 90s so...
