I am so excited to have an American team (and hopefully an American driver) that I can actually root for. I know Haas has been around for awhile but they are barely an American team and the one American driver we had on the grid recently was a nice enough guy, but he was not particularly quick (though much of that could have been the brick of car he was driving).

Still very excited to see how this all goes. I am expecting a rough start, but I hope after a few seasons they can find their footing and really hammer down.

I wonder if part of the rationale is to poach talent from Haas who are also in North Carolina. I know itโ€™s mostly admin and logistics support etc there but still one of the few places stateside with current F1 experience.

It's their engine shop that will be in Charlotte, I doubt there's much that Haas has that they want. I'm betting the GTP team is going to get raided.

I'm excited to see a new power unit debut. GM has a long racing pedigree but F1 chases perfection to a degree that is arguably unmatched. Will they hit the ground running or stumble? Time will tell.

They're going to struggle through their first set of regulations. This isn't a knock on GM, just no one joins F1 and is competitive out of the gates - a climb made tougher bringing their own engine and designs.

The real question will be how quickly can they iterate, and how committed are they to improving in the sport. If they stick around for the long haul, I think they'll have much potential.

I can't imagine the engine being amazing when they start, but I hope they have the flexibility to improve the performance and reliability.
