That's how much the US cares about justice for war crimes.

A lot of shithole states have Democratic representatives, I see.

Well that’s pathetic and they suck. And we’re not signatories to the ICC so it’s effectively chest-beating just to be assholes about it right?

It might be more than just being assholes; this could be a step towards attacking the ICC in ways that truly undermine international law.

Just because the USA is not a member does not mean it can’t make things more difficult.

But chaos in government… probably forgotten later

I mean the only countries that aren't members are the US and Israel I think . . . oh and Russia, China, Libya, and Qatar. Noice.

That ability to claim jurisdiction over individuals unlikely to be prosecuted in national courts is probably one of the key reasons why some prominent nations like the United States, China and Russia continue to decline to sign this particular treaty agreement.

It’s more of a lifestyle choice

How has Netanyahu not been killed yet? The guy is a massive warmonger and one of the very few leaders on this planet who are just truly evil.

There will always be "rogue democrats" that vote with conservatives. It's almost like it's by design...

It's the old Designated Villain

https://www.salon.com/2010/02/23/democrats_34/

One minute, it's Jay Rockefeller as the Prime Villain leading the way in protecting Bush surveillance programs and demanding telecom immunity; the next minute, it's Dianne Feinstein and Chuck Schumer joining hands and "breaking with their party" to ensure Michael Mukasey's confirmation as Attorney General; then it's Big Bad Joe Lieberman single-handedly blocking Medicare expansion; then it's Blanche Lincoln and Jim Webb joining with Lindsey Graham to support the de-funding of civilian trials for Terrorists; and now that they can't blame Lieberman or Ben Nelson any longer on health care (since they don't need 60 votes), Jay Rockefeller voluntarily returns to the Villain Role, stepping up to put an end to the pretend-movement among Senate Democrats to enact the public option via reconciliation.

It's a club, and you don't wield it.

What are the names of the 45 Democrats that voted with GOP? That's what I'd like to know.

Not really digestible list there though. Even the xml is lacking any easy of state and party in a succinct list https://clerk.house.gov/evs/2025/roll007.xml

Lead a horse to water, and he'll nitpick it all day.

Oh my bad, I just skimmed the article.
