After over a year of anticipation, Atari's retro handheld console is finally set to make its debut at CES 2025. Created by My Arcade, the Gamestation Go offers a unique blend of classic gaming experiences with innovative controls.

What to Expect?

It boasts a 7-inch high-resolution screen, rechargeable battery, and loads of pre-installed Atari classics. The standout feature, however, might be the inclusion of paddle controllers and Trak-Ball input devices. With the original Atari 2600, these input devices were used with games like Breakout, Canyon Bomber, Night Driver, and Video Olympics.

Key Features:

  • 7-inch high-resolution screen
  • Rechargeable battery
  • Paddle controller (CX30)
  • Trak-Ball input device
  • Two USB-C ports for additional peripherals
  • Loads of pre-installed Atari classics

Additional Products from My Arcade

Last year, My Arcade revealed other products related to Atari, such as the Gamestation Remix, Joypad, and Joystick, as well as the 'Mega' and 'Super' Player tabletop arcade systems.

Just in time for a completely saturated market

Hi-res screen is a key feature for playing Atari games?

Also, how "high" is "high resolution" anyway?

I'm always suspicious about vague terms like that. I usually suspect that if they're afraid to give the numbers then they're ashamed that they're not good enough!

Hey, despite their drawbacks CRTs are amazing.

I kinda want to see the parallel universe where handheld CRTs are a thing though.

Though, really, they'd probably be like Fallout's Pip-Boy.

That parallel universe is ours. Portable CRT-based TVs have existed since the 70s.

A track ball is interesting. Not sure it's worth the increased thickness compared to Steam Deck style touch pads, but it's still interesting.

How else would you play games like Marble Madness :)

This is a bizarre device that seems interesting only for hacking.
