Why is the entire population of the US not automatically eligible in an eavesdropping case?

I don't have an iphone and thus no siri and thus no eligibility, but I'm constantly surrounded by those with iphones that apparently eavesdrop. Seems likely that a non-apple customer's conversion could have been caught in that drag net.

There are 2 things US government avoids.

  • Anger billionaires
  • Anger a cult following (with white majority)

Apple is both and this is just cost of doing business in the land of the free. The gov probably also gets inside access, while Apple does the "pro user" marketing, which every fan just accepts as gospel. Win-Win on both end

Class action lawsuits are just the price of doing business these days. Apple wipes its ass with this amount of money, and it's basically inconsequential for them.
