Hell yeah, fantastic work! It's truly a joy watching your art journey unfold! Also don't sweat about relying on references, first of all it's the best way to learn and second I'm pretty sure that every artist that goes for realism has to rely on references to some extend.

This is a friendly community for everyone who wants to share their art with the world! Everyone is welcomed π¨
Rules
AI Art: While we appreciate AI generated art, there are more appropriate communities to post that type of art to. Please keep posts to non-AI generated art only. This rule includes AI art that was then manually manipulated (e.g. drawing on top of something generated by AI).
Nudity: Nudity is and has always been a part of art, but it may be something that some users don't wish to see or cannot view in certain circumstances (e.g. at work). If your work contains nudity, please mark it as NSFW. Work that contains nudity that is not marked as NSFW will be taken down. As long as the NSFW tag is used, we welcome nude subject matter.
Spam: Please do not spam this community. Self promotion is fine if you just want people to be aware of your work, but blatant attempts at spam will result in the past being removed and possibly a ban. If you aren't sure if what you are posting is spam, please contact the moderator first.
Conduct: Be nice, and don't be a jerk. Constructive criticism is OK, but don't be mean. Encouragement is always welcomed.
Thank you x2!
Holy crap, your last few have been awesome!
Thank you! I'm blushing, literally.
I think I've had a breakthrough moment for sure. Drawing nearly every day for a year has helped a ton.
Fucking hell, that's a visceral emotion on full display there. Outstanding work OP! I'm saving this as a visual reference for some writing I'm working on, I hope you don't mind.
Hell yeah!!! And thank you.
If you're up for it I'd love to read it when it's ready!
I've done my share of oil painting, but ultimately was never quite good at it. Oil is the second hardest medium to work in when it comes to illustration (the hardest being gouache), imho.
OP, this is quite good for a single layer. You should indeed be quite proud. π
I had to look up gouache, first time I've heard of it. No idea how anyone would do that digitally....!?
And thank you, I saw a YouTube saying we should try to use as few layers as possible, preferably just one, don't use undo, and just paint through our mistakes. Felt like walking on a tight rope without a net as I started to get to like the painting more and more.
