It's more than just colourisation, they recovered 16mm footage from location shoots, which gives us some of those crisp shots they've used for promo pictures.

It's pretty exciting, almost enough to ease my worries how they're going to edit a >4hrs serial down to a 90 minutes special...

And they're also making a regeneration scene based on a fan creation that actually shows the regeneration iirc. But rip 6B.

Oh man, is it confirmed that it's a Second to Third Doctor regeneration? 😞

I were holding out hopes that they'd snuck in a cheeky Jo Martin cameo!

Article says "The episode will feature the Second Doctor's never-before-seen regeneration into the Third Doctor (Jon Pertwee), alongside recovered footage not seen since the original broadcast."

Ah, damn. I read some advance news earlier in the month so I only skimmed this one. There goes my Fugitive 6B pipedream 🙂

I really like the color grading they've shown on the stills. It looks like 60's British film.

Interesting.

I think the pacing was a bit off - it mostly felt rushed. Could have done with being an extra 15-30 minutes, really.

Not sure about The War Chief

Tap for spoilerThey played music called The Master Vainglorious from the new Season 3, which gave the impression that he might have been The Master. Even after he’s been shot and his body removed, you could hear the beginning of the regeneration sound from off-screen.

Most of the effects were good. The colour did highlight just how cheap some of the sets were, such as the children’s magnets used as “control circuits” for the SIDRATs 🤣

I liked both the War Lord and the Doctor’s trials. I actually liked the regeneration sequence, although the second bit with Pertwee before he falls out of the TARDIS unconscious seemed unnecessary and a bit uncanny valley, even if the 1970/1980 gag was pretty good.

Overall, yes, I’d call that a success.
