Electric Vehicles are a key part of our tomorrow and how we get there. If we can get all the fossil fuel vehicles off our roads, out of our seas and out of our skies, we'll have a much better environment. This community is where we discuss the various different vehicles and news stories regarding electric transportation.

Is it still like 220mi of range? lmao

This car doesn’t even appear in my head as a consideration with that kind of a drawback.

We drive an electric golf with 232 km range, which is 144 miles. It's a great commuter and was so cheap it'll pay for itself.

It really depends on your use case, but cars with short ranges do have their niche, especially if your budget is limited and you regularly drive distances that are doable with the car but too far for a bicycle.

I’m totally down for a proposition where a car has 250km of range as long as it’s half the price of one with 500km. Here in the states, 40K is more than enough to get something with at least 450km.

Here in the states, the eGolf was discontinued in 2019, and if I’m not mistaken, there’s nothing sub 30K still in the American market (the volt was discontinued last year).

Yeah, of course the car needs to be cheap if it has a low range. We paid about 20k for the golf when we bought it in '20, which was a great deal then and would still be a great deal today. At least here in Europe, this "small and low range but cheap" is, while not common, available. The Dacia Spring is awesome for its price (offers similar range as our golf at around 14k) and you might find good deals for a Twingo, Up, C3 or similar, for little more than 20k as well.

So... Yeah. Sucks if there's nothing like that available. Guess manufacturers must look at American incomes and just be like "nah, the average American should be able to afford our expensive ones, so fuck the others" or something. Dunno.

What were the marketing people smoking when they named this vehicle?

Only 37,000 now for the steering-wheel-and-tires base model.
