Chinese shopping app Temu was once again the most downloaded free app in the U.S., according to a list of top apps and games across the App Store released by Apple on Monday. The shopping app moved into the No. 1 slot last year, stealing the position from TikTok which held the title in in 2022.

I checked out the website then backed away since I don't like pressure based sales that they push with limited time crap that tries to get you to buy crap you don't need. I don't see the draw over using aliexpress.

Anyone else finds the dichotomy of extremely cheap Chinese goods seller being the most popular app on the elite brand Apple device interesting?

well it makes sense, having an iPhone and using temu are both extremely consumerist things to do. overpriced, yet (outwardly) polished looking items that have been heavily marketed as status symbols, like apple devices, is peak consumerism. on the other side, you have unpolished, mass produced trash for cheap. also peak consumerism, just on the other side of the spectrum.
